Hey everyone, from reading the title you know i am new to the forums, so i just wanted to introduce myself real fast.

my name is Brian, and i have been playing electric's for about 1 year now, so that should intitle me to a few dumb questions lol.

anways on to the first question!

i curently have a epiphone les paul special 2, its good for me i do really like it but i am kinda wanting to upgrade, not to anything for an expert but just something for more of a intermediate player.

i love the look of les paul guitars so i was planing to stick with one, a gipson sg is a little out of the price range lol.

i was currently looking at the epiphone les paul special 2 GT. i know there is not a HUGE dfference but with just the reviews it seems ok. good for intermediate players not way expensive a few new fetures i am not familiar with..

so i was just asking for other suggestions or ideas, is the les paul gt good? would it be a waste to upgrade to it.

any input will help a ton!!

thanks so much
Brian!

Welcome aboard.  Cool

I looked at one at MF and it certainly look nice. 4 reviews rated it high and I'm almost tempted to get one myself.  Rawk1

i have been looking at it there as well. i does appear to be really nice, high reviews and what not.

i am just curious if it will be a good upgrade to my current les paul special 2. i am trying to figure out if i should go for it or if i would be better of not getting it because it is simmilar to what i already have.

if you like the epiphone lp you already have, why not upgrade its humbuckers and hardware? seriously, if your guitar has nice low action on the frets and its something you enjoy playing. i suggest upgrading the humbuckers, tuning keys, bridge, ect... that would be the "next step up" in my opinion. it would also give you better insight on how to personalize your gear.

What kind of amplifier do you have? You may want to upgrade that instead. As my buddy Jamesss put it:

Nice Guitar + Crappy Amp = Crappy Sound
OK Guitar + Nice amp = Nice Sound

You may want to look into that.
