I LOVE FUZZ.

This part just got me:

Glen Snotty, the recording engineer, later duplicated the circuit in a stompbox that Nashville guitarists began using. The design eventually fell into the hands of Gibson’s parent company Chicago Musical Instruments (CMI) and became the Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz-Tone.

Why hasn't somebody made a clone of this pedal and called it the "Snot box"?  I mean, really...that's just too good.

I actually used one of those old Maestro pedals on a session once, found it in the studio's box of broken stuff.
The engineer fixed it and I used it to dub guitar onto a couple of tracks.  The tone was so obnoxious (soo...snotty) that we simply could not get it to sit in a mix with other guitars.  It obliterated everything in the mix.  So we ended up not using it.  Later I bought a different Maestro fuzz that was nowhere near this thing.  I'd love to have a clone of it (*hint hint)

I thought you didn't like Fuzz?

Hmm, just a good Fuzz (Dunno which yet, can't decide), nice Overdrive (read OCD), Analogue Delay (Memory Boy Deluxe), Reverb (Cathedral), Volume Pedal (Ernie Ball), Digitech Whammy, Wah (Keeler) and a Clean Boost (Haven't a clue), and I'm set.

Damn you GAS!

You guys with your search function!   ROTF  Well if you look at both statements, they are consistent... (I say I don't like fuzz in both statements! haha!)  I do love fuzz, and it does wreck your tone.  There I said it!

Yup it's pedal that takes your tone and makes lots of noise instead....

Beautiful noise that is  Grin
