#1 rule of guitar buying: Try it before you buy it. I've bought a couple of guitars off the net and its not worth taking the chance.

Especially if you're buying something thats in the $400 or less range. You really want to get in a store and play the guitar to decide its the one. Even have them bring another of the same model out just to compare a little.

... And can't you get the B.C. Rich Flying V with the regular headstock instead of the 'widow?'

Right, and that's one of the main things keeping me off the agile bandwagon. (Well that and the fact that I'd either have to recess the input jack, or get an angled cable.)

I have no idea. I've never played a BC Rich I enjoyed, though, even ignoring the headstock. I just hate them, they sound ... maybe they're like First Act and they make awesome instruments for Jourgensen and King, but the low-end BC Rich gear always sounds like crap to me...

I completely agree.  Anyone want a Beast?  I've never been satisfied with that guitar's setup or tone.  The neck is big in a bad way and the pickups are covered in mud.   Tongue  And it's a mid-range BCR  Roll Eyes

How much? PM me.

Edit: Egads, never mind. I just saw a picture of the 'Beast' and apparently I thought you were talking about the 'Warlock.' Who buys guitars like that anyway?

Uh ... I dunno, the same people who buy the Warlock?

You can't SERIOUSLY believe there is a difference in those two, can you?

Looks and application?  No, they're about the same.  But the Beast is the only guitar I know that is uncomfortable to play sitting or standing and can stab you while doing either.  The Warlock is strat-like in comparison.

You wouldn't have to take the paint off. Just take some 000 or 0000 steel wool to it and "satinize" the finish. It feels awesome.

Hence my confusion...

I think that the outrageous body style is nice, but find it hard to believe that I wouldn't accidentally break the horns off the Beast in the first 15 minutes.
