Just an update on the Left Wing Gordon guitar ...   Got it to where I can sit with it ... very comfortable .. Unlike the Flying V which it was "loosely" based on ... Standing , it's well balanced , and the "wing" makes a great arm rest ..  and now , back to sanding and shaping ... grrrrr!!!
Everybody around here says it looks like a "Metal" guitar ... Shocked Roll Eyes  May have to paint it as such ... ??

I wouldn't call that a metal guitar.  More of a futuristic style guitar in a vintage fashion.  Maybe something Prince or George Jetson would play.  I'm seeing toaster pickups and soft bright colors like a Gretsch.   Smiley

Yea, give like a dark green metallic paint and some chrome trim, make it look like a cadillac.

Yeah, sherwood green would be cool! Or organic green on a silver base:

How about something simple , like antique white with a TS pickguard Huh   This one is just a prototype , If it works out as planned (really comfortable), I'll get NOGC to run out a few more bodies on the CNC so I can experiment with more pup combinations , and perhaps a prototype NOGC whammy , which coincidentally fits a LP too...  One with single coils , one with 2 Humpups, and of course one with P-90s ... H-S-H too..     Never enough guitars eh ?? ... Rawk1 Wink

I agree, antique white is good for this.

I think vintge Fender colors would look good on it. I actually see it in that "surf aquamarine" color, myself.

Ya know , I had a  2 door '66 Caddy that I restored .. It was white with Red interior ... I loved it , but what a Gas Hog , and it just wasn't as practical as a pickup truck/van   for carrying the band gear  , so down the street it went ... sniff !!!  Cry
It was a "Boat"   Shocked  Parking was NO FUN !!!    Facepalm

OK, so white it is ...no skulls   Cool   Er, I gotta' have a pickguard/strikeplate  of some sort .. I was planning on mounting the pups and controls from the front ... sorta' strat style ...   Maybe a white pickguard too ...Huh All white would be pretty cool  in a Jimi Sorta' way ...  Rawk1
This one will only have one humpup wired to a 3 way on/on/on/ switch for series/parallel /SC tones...No Tone control... Simple !!!  Just a prototype ...   Not going too crazy yet .. If I don't end up liking it a Lot , it will go into the cupboard under the stairs (Guitar Heaven)  forever... I have a few others there..  Tongue  If it works , the plan is to make Better ones with exotic woods instead of shop scraps ...  Embarrassed  And use the new NOGC necks , which will soon become available ...   Sometimes these ideas don't work in the real world ... on paper , it's just speculation, but the real test is playing it for 4 hours at a gig ... That's when we see if it's really Comfortable , or our shoulder hurts for days ...  Roll Eyes Facepalm

AK , like a turquoise???   Hmmmm???

AK , like a turquoise???   Hmmmm???

Yeah, like turquoise. Definitely more blue than surf green, but not TOO blue ... if that makes sense.

edit: as far as the "metal guitar" bit goes, I could see that if the fin was pointed instead of rounded and curved like it is, and if the lines were a bit more straight. But as it is, it really strikes me as having a sorta 50s-inspired design; very groovy and curvy. I dig it that way.

AK, Yeah , I could dig that color Cool ... just have to search around to find that exact right color paint I need ... probably just mix it up ...  Roll Eyes   Maybe the trick is to find the right color pick guard first and then mix the color to match or complement the Pkgrd color ... Hmmmm?Huh

Now here's really an off the wall idea ... I've been using Black Gloss exterior Latex house paint for a long time on my speaker and amp head cabs... Applied to simulate a random sorta' Tolex finish/appearance    (textured) ..  actually has worked out very durable   (road use) and although easily repairable (just dab on more paint) , we've had no major scratches /etc. to contend with   ... Cheap, anybody can dab paint on , and needs no special or super smooth surface prep...   And House paint comes in many colors .... like surf aquamarine/turquoise ish" ...    Might be pretty Cool on a guitar like this ... Textured Tolex Turquoise...   Cool Roll Eyes   Prototype the paint too ... What the Heck ?
