And the requisite Gut shot ...

Looks good.  Cool

Is that power chip insulated from the case? No chance of overheating?

Ersta' ... the LM338 power chip is insulated with silicon guards and grommets .. The TDA7240A amp chip is directly attached to the case and uses that for the heat sink ...   Run pretty cool ...  But I haven't played it for hours on end yet ...

GPW I didn't know you ran at DIY Stompboxes!  Grin Me too but under a different name...  Roll Eyes

I thought of building the TG, but I really want to try my hand at the Superfly... Its a .5 watt sub-miniature tube amp... All tube fun in a very practice-amp size!

... Actually I think I may have sent you linx to the SF schematic...  Roll Eyes I can't remember...

They've got 3 sub-mini tube projects over there... Superfly which does cleans and overdrive pretty well... Murder One which is high-gain oriented and the Sub Zero which apparently focuses mainly on clean sounds...  Wink

Lots of guys have made the submini amps ...  all report they sound Great ...  Rawk1    had some subminis, but gave them to a friend before I found out about the SF ...  Facepalm

This was just a little FUN SS project  that really paid off ...  Something to pass the time while waiting on my BBD parts ...

Guys ,  I has some Hum issues with the amp , got quiet when you touched the strings , that thing  Facepalm

Turns out it was the computer power supply ...  Two kinds , 2 prong , 3 prong (earthed) ... The 3 prong is the ticket ... No Hum !!!   Cool
I'd (now) recommend this amp kit for the new guys that want to get their "feet wet" in amp building ...  It is a Good usable amp , and can get LOUD !!!    Shocked  20 watts ...   Rawk1 for 18 bucks , and a $9 PS off Flea Bay ...  Beats the S**t outta' that 22cal. thing ... IMHO

Do you have to use it with an 8 ohm speaker with it,
or can you go with 4 ohm or lower?
