Hard to tell from that image, but those don't look plated.

no, they're plated, i guess the reflection from the plastic just makes them look silver more than gold Huh they're not a really shiny gold like the tremolo, but they'll work real nice with the black and white ebony Cheesy i can't wait to get started on the neck Tongue

i guess i've been procrastinating a bit, but my dad got me a pair of big clamps for christmas so today i had some time to myself and decided to get gluing on the padauk Cheesy i'll do the makore later, i still need to straighten the edges out, but i'll see how my padauk turns out first Tongue i thought about getting started on the snakewood fretboard or starting on the pickup surrounds or even the truss rod slot in the ebony, but it's a bit hot today and the wood being glued has taken up most of my workspace so i'll do it later this week when i have some more time and hopefully it's cooled down a bit Smiley

the two smaller clamps are there to hold the wood flat cause it was raising in the middle when i tightened the two big clamps and yes there's newspaper underneath the wood, i'm not about to glue wood to the workbench and ruin the bench and wood Tongue

haha, thanks guys Smiley the wood is very pretty, i love the figure of the makore, you can't see i in the last photo, but it's like an illusion, you move the wood around and the "ripple" effect it has going on changes and moves around, kinda like those old school Tazos if anyone can remember those Tongue it's so awesome!

the makore turned out really well Cheesy it looks fantastic, i got excited last night and got drawing and designing and after a couple of hours i came up with what i think will be a pretty workable design, nothing extreme or over the top, nice and subtle and simple... of course, everyone knows i love mocking up, so i thought i'd try and think of how i'm gonna place all the switches and knobs... i wanted to keep them in the one cavity, but as i made this body quite a bit thinner than a les paul (i drew a les paul size waist and drew around it, making it thinner) it's looking like i might have to put it on one of the horns, though i'm very open for suggestions on how to go about positioning everything and any opinions will be valued and experimented with... i've looked at some PRS guitars and some of them look workable, but i'm not sure i could pull it off the same Huh

anywho, a couple of pics with the switch in different spots, the bridge is just there for reference and i'm very open for opinions on the knob positioning (sorry that the pencil outline is hard to see, the figure of the makore made it hard to get a good photo, even when i was drawing it on there the grain made it hard to see)

haha, thanks Smiley yeah, i'm trying to work around the issue of knobs getting in the way of my playing... the switch almost definitely has to go on the horns for that exact reason... i originally wanted 2 volume knobs and a master tone, but i'm really considering scrapping one of the volume knobs to make it easier... only other thing i could do is make the body half an inch or so in total wider and that might give me the room i need... i'm not sure, that's why i'm after opinions, haha

How often do you adjust your tone knob? Maybe you could just shift the entire constelation back a bit? Id hate being stuck with just one volume control, but maybe thats just me... Huh

i use the tone knob maybe more than i would a volume knob, but not enough that i'd want a tone knob for each pickup... i'm thinking maybe something like this PRS would work, but how comfortable it would be to use, i'm not sure, i guess once you get used to it it wouldn't be a problem

Ive played that exact guitar and to me it felt amazing. I think it probably had something to do with the knobs being lowered into the body. Youd have to try it for yourself though I guess.

Just a thought ...  if you’re going to do “pinkie swells “ , you might find the Best spot for that Volume knob , yet not be in the way of strumming ...

i guess it's gonna be one of those thing i have to experiment with first before i do anything permanent, lol, the PRS setup looks like it would be pretty comfortable to play with, not sure about the switch location on it though
