Guys , last night we played a somewhat small club and brought waaaaay too much gear ...   Large  2/15 +H columns for this gig were just “overkill” and a PIA to move about  (Heavy, my back still hurts )  Facepalm  We do have a small pair of 10”  Yamaha PA speakers that sound  ok ,just lack clarity and Bottom ... Have used those successfully as stage monitors , but they don’t seem to cut it as a small room PA..   tried some really Nice sounding JBLs ,  1/15 +H , but they were ridiculously expensive ...  Shocked   We don’t play LOUD in the smaller clubs ... very restrained  so don’t need anything BIG ...  Just Good Tone ...

So what are you guys using Huh    Any good tips on small PA speakers ... Huh

I've been letting my singer go through an ART tube preamp into a PV Valveking 2x12.  It's portable (though still heavy) and she sounds better through that than anything else we've tried.  That open back box fills the room with sound and the amp has plenty enough headroom to get the job done and project her over two half stacks, a drum set, and a bassist with a 15" combo.

RGT , that sounds like a good alternative , but this is a project I have to get the band to chip in and pay for ... Mainly because they store the stuff at my Studio and when It comes down to it , every gig , it’s up to me and the other old guy to load and unload it  Facepalm  ... everyone else just shows up at the gig and expects the gear to be there ...  and they Never come back to the Studio after a gig  to help unload ... I’m always stuck with that task too  ...   Just getting too Old for this s**t ...   Something small and light while Good sounding would be  acceptable ...  Moving around , loading and unloading 90lb. columns just Hurts  ... Work for young guys  with good backs ... not a couple old farts wrestling with it ...  Shocked

Wondering if a powered speaker added as a “center speaker” would help the fullness of the sound  with the smaller PA speakers we already have ... Huh
