¯\(°_o)/¯ How do Lydian?

« on: January 08, 2012, 01:36:34 PM »

so I've picked the body, the colour I want the finish/pickguard, also all the hardware, the neck and I also plan to put locking tuners on the neck.

I would like to put mini humbuckers in the tele, naimly a lil screamin demon in the bridge, but I've heard these are strat pups, will they fit/work in a tele? I have no idea about pots or wiring etc etc, figured I'd learn as I go, I'd also like to put a good lead tone pup in the neck, any suggestions/help?

The should fit. I don't see any reason why not.

Thanks man, I just couldn't find anything on the internet that didn't have them linked to stratocasters, not a single review or forum post in the world, so I just worried it was something to do with size/wires etc. Smiley

Strat pickups will work, but they won't fit in the tele bridge, or pickgaurd.

Just looked at my Tele, and strat pups. The bridge should work size wise, but the screws are in different places. The pickgaurd pup is narrower on the Tele, but that could be simply mod-ed with a file to the pickgaurd?

You could do this for the PG.

The also have bridges to fit regular humbuckers, but no strat style singles.

Pots (potentiometers if you want to get fancy) are basically your volume and tone knobs. I'm pretty sure Teles use a basic 250k pot for both. You'll be able to find a Tele wiring diagram online pretty easily, ask if you need help. Remember to connect a capacitor to you tone. I forget exactly what size capacitor is needed though. Huh

Your pots should be 250k audio taper for both. You'll need a three-way switch as well. I'm not super familiar with tele's but i'm almost certain they use a 3-way blade type switch.

As for the tone capacitor, anything between .022uf and .047 should work splendidly. .039uf is one of my favorites although to 99% of people the difference is negligible.

That includes me. I just do the .039 to be different (and also a smart ass).  Cheesy
