Anybody have a favorite switch/ pickup position, where your selector always ends up, regardless of what you're playing? I always seem to get stuck in the Bridge/Mid position. I'm currently doing a 7 position mod, so I'm sure that will change in a week or two.

I like neck but it normally just gets lost in the mix. Bridge most of the time.

Pure bridge for when I really have to cut through all the crap (i.e. my bandmates Tongue) other than that having two volume and tone knobs lets me adjust my tone to exactly what i want so its usually in the middle.

Oh, I thought for a moment that by position you meant the location on the guitar.

But position... well, depends on what sound I need.
Obviously you get a tighter, sharper and thinner sound in the bridge-position, and fuller, rounder and warmer in the neck.
For any distorted, more powerful and tighter riffing I keep it in the bridge-position.
For clean it's mostly the neck-position, or for a bit less warm but very clean, to the center-position.
Occasionally to the bridge-position to get a thinner sound to emulate something more "lo-fi" or "plingy-plongy".
But the neck-position also for very warm and full solos, or more overdriven crispy chords.

This is only speaking of a 2x Humbucker setup though.
So it just depends what sound I need, I tend to switch quite often, so bridge for tight and heavy riffs and neck for warm singing solos.
But when I want to squeal, scream, it usually comes out better our sharper and more powerful in the bridge-position.
Again, in case it needs to be warmer, it goes to the neck-position.

So I don't have one particular position it goes to. Tongue

i also have a 2 humbucker set up.  i seem to use the bridge alot, but often take out much of the tone.
it really depends on the sound i'm after though.  i rarely use both pups at once, but when i do i almost always lower the vol on the neck a little.

I spend 95% of my play time on the bridge pickup on a 2x humbucker setup. My Strat gets position 4, middle and bridge, which is similar to a bridge humbucker. Tone and volume always on max.

The neck pickup on my Les Paul just smolders at 3-4 volume and full tone. I love it for bluesy stuff.

I also discovered the middle pickup by itself awhile ago. On my Strat. It has a pretty good sound that is unlike anything I can do with my Les Paul.

I'd like to put a neck-always-on switch in my strat as well. So I can try out neck and bridge pickups and all 3 pickups at the same time. Neck and bridge sounds like it might give me that telecaster effect.  Huh

I modded my strat so there's a humbucker in the bridge - that tends to be what I use for solos as it's higher output, though the rest of the time I'm in the neck/mid position.

Guitars with two humbuckers I'm usually in the neck position with the tone on about 7-8, if the equipment I'm using it with is mine (most of my stuff is naturally quite bright), but it changes up depending on what/where/with what/with whom I'm playing.

It depends on what I'm playing, but I probably spend most of my time with the bridge. If I'm playing with humbuckers I'll almost never got to neck.

I do use the bridge a lot, and switch to the other pickups. It just seems like every time I pick the guitar up, the selector is in the bridge/mid position.

I like to use dual humbucker guitars with both on (middle) and the volume turned slightly down on the neck pickup to about 6-7 so that the bridge pickup cuts through, but is thickened by the neck pickup.

I like 'em all, but sound best in the 'off' position though.
