¯\(°_o)/¯ How do Lydian?

« on: January 21, 2012, 05:47:26 PM »

sorry for the impersonal nature of this post, I'm going to try and stuckture my questions.

1. When installing the pickups on my tele (I'm mounting to the body as no pick guard) how do I measure out where the pup goes? i.e 10mm from left edge and 10mm from right edge, 5mm from top and 5mm from bottom etc?v I've realised this body I have is routed for strat pups so it's a tad large!

2. do I need to t-oil the pup cavities? or should I leave them bare wood, should I shield all the cavities?

3. Do I drill all the holes or can I just screw in ? do I need to T-oil the holes?

4. what do I do with these white and black wires that are no longer than 1cm long and are taped at the end? why are they even here?

5.  argggggggggggh!

1. what GPW said
2. you don't need to oil the cavities, but it can't hurt. Same goes for the shielding. None of my guitars are shielded, never had any problems, not live, not in the studio, not at rehearsal.
3. what GPW said
4. You've probably got 4-wire noise canceling pickups. The short ones are for connecting the 2 coils, leave them.
5. shiver me timbers...

Fold those extra white and black wires back and tape them out of the way. Its cleaner and you don't risk them finding their way to something that they shouldn't be connected to.  Wink
